Injectables for wrinkle treatment

At PLDI, all of these injectables are administered by a board-certified dermatologist, not an assistant or nurse. BOTOX works by blocking the nerve signals that tell facial muscles to contract. By limiting the muscles’ ability to contract, BOTOX not only reduces targeted lines and wrinkles but slows the deepening of wrinkles and the appearance of aging. PLDI physicians use BOTOX to reduce frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines and lip and neck wrinkles.
DYSPORT injections also achieve reduction in wrinkles by blocking nerve signals to facial muscles. Like BOTOX, DYSPORT injections are a very popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure. The broad acceptance of DYSPORT is due to ease of use and effectiveness in treating common types of wrinkles, especially in the upper third of the face, including frown lines, horizontal forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet. DYSPORT is also often used successfully to smooth vertical and horizontal neck lines.
Restylane and Juvederm brands are injectable dermal fillers that are based on hyaluronic acid. This basic element of connective skin tissue draws and holds water, and nourishes and moisturizes the skin. Like collagen, natural hyaluronic acid content in the skin diminishes with age. Restylane and Juvederm products are all non-animal hyaluronic acid (NASHA) fillers, so no allergy testing is required. The structure of the particles in these products is different and your physician will recommend the appropriate formula.
